Moving Day! And carnival fun!

I've finally gotten moved to a cute Wordpress Blog and won't be updating here any longer. To kick off the move I've joined the Carnival! Well, a BLOG Carnival. What's that? A merry-go-round of articles written by professional custom portrait photographers across the U.S. and Canada, all on some aspect of photography. From preparing for your portrait session to traveling with photography equipment to "iphoneography". Come join us, it's a fun ride!

Gentle hero

This little love made her debut just before Christmas. In addition to getting her first Christmas portraits and some of the more usual newborn portraits, we had some fun with dad in his gear. I've always admired the dedication and quiet heroism of firefighters and after a house fire that admiration has only grown - our family is very grateful for their efforts. I'm so happy to have had the privilege of photographing this hero's adorable family.

I had so many favorites that I'll continue in another blog post tomorrow!

p.s. for any photographer friends viewing, no, those aren't photoshopped effects on the backgrounds of the bottom two ; ).

Pink - Newborn love!

One of my favorties sessions is photographing newborn babies! I never get enough of that fresh new sweetness. The sessions are usually very long and often messy, but oh so worth it!

This tiny beauty is the granddaughter of another photographer, Cheryl Skinner. We had a photographer "playdate" to get just a few images. I'll have more newborn portraits sessions to share soon, it's been a babypalooza this winter!

Malibu country session

Another family portrait set from the Malibu ranch sessions. It's always fun when we can go beyond "cheese" and get the playful, silly, loving, NATURAL family action!

More from the Malibu ranch fundraiser!

Sharing another family from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society fundraiser. Three kids, three unique and engaging personalities. One solid and (fun)loving family. Had to document middle brother's cast, love the color accent, so much cooler than the boring white tape I had for my broken arm as a kid!

And extra cool? I didn't have to chase them down to get the photos as I usually do with the little ones! I could really get used to this older kid cooperation gig!

FUNdraiser!

Last spring my friend Jen Wilson decided to get fit and raise funds for charity at the same time. The very cool program she chose through the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society involves meeting a fundraising goal AND competing in a Triathalon. I'm one of her photographer friends, along with Katie Davies and Desiree Durang, drafted to help with her brilliant fundraising idea.

Eight families donated directly to the L & L Society and, as a "thank you", were invited to a four photographer minisession event. The families got to take advantage of a fully tax deductible donation, an afternoon in the fresh country air and a sweet collection of family photos from four different perspectives!

For me, a total personal win-win. I got to give back a little, meet the adorable kidlets from eight fabulous families, hangout with three fun (and so talented!) photographers and enjoy a gorgeous day at an incredibly beautiful private ranch in Agoura. And the best part? Jen did all the Triathlalon training and I avoided the blisters! ; ) OK, maybe that wasn't "quite" the best part.

The best part for real? The fun (and beautiful)people I'll be sharing here!
